Name of author:Li Fenglin
Name(s) of victim(s):Li Xuecan (Li Fenglin’s father) and his fellowe townsmen
Type of atrocity:Murders, Others(MU, OT)
Other details:My father was the chairman of the local Chamber of Commerce, who was unwilling to be a traitor and so fled to my grandmother’s home with me (his daughter). The enemy and the puppet agency required my father to cooperate with them several times, but he replied firmly “I would rather beg with my children than be a traitor”. As a result, our house was destroyed by the Japanese soldiers, and my father’s company had to close down. Later, my father’s health went from bad to worse and passed away. My mother fell sick from constant overwork and could not raise us, so she sold my brother and me to other people. Attached are the original residential floor plan of my house and the account of other victims’ suffering. We require the Japanese government to compensate.
Comrade Tong Zeng:
I, along with other victims, want to express our deep appreciation of your dedication spirit to wipe out national humiliation, and spared no effort, time, stamina and financial resources in collecting the owed debt and drumming up support. Here enclosed are the signature forms of some victims and supporters we have solicited. Please find them in the attachment.
When China announced to abandon war compensation I considered it an unwise move, later I wrote a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to state the reasons, but the letter was never answered after delivery, we gladly heard that you were working diligently for this cause, and “worked out” some results, which should really be upheld by the compatriots.
I also have some actual questions to ask you, and if it’s not convenient to express them clearly through mail. If you have the time to meet me, in person please tell me in the return letter, I will go to Beijing to seek your instructions.
Regards
Yours faithfully
Li Fenglin
