About the Appendix

The following is a list of true details on personnel directly or indirectly killed or persecuted by the Japanese Army, houses, furniture, farming tools, farm cattle, and clothing burned or looted by the Japanese Army during the Anti-Japanese War:

（1） Ding Xiaomei, female, now 75, residing at Hengdalu Village, Bailongqiao Town.
Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, the Japanese Army deployed massive troops at Jiangtoushan Village, and built over a dozen gun turrets. However, since there were many village houses in front of the turrets which obstructed the vision of the gun turrets, the Japanese Army needed to destroy all the houses in front of the turrets. On August 16, 1942 of lunar calendar, the Japanese Army burned all the houses in front of the gun turrets, back then my home’s three storied houses (three buildings in total) and all the farming tools, furniture, clothing, grain were also totally burned by the Japanese Army.
（2） Ni Guiying, female, back then aged 3, residing at Hengdalu Village, Bailongqiao Town.
Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, On August 16, 1942 of lunar calendar, the Japanese Army secretly distributed toxic bacteria in Jinhua region, my daughter was too young to recognize the danger, and became infected by the bacteria, soon her hands and feet festered heavily, with a lot of pus, the illness deteriorated day by day, at a time when the country was plunged into turmoil and chaos of war, no doctor was available, and there was nowhere to buy drugs, this illness became incurable, as the illness became critical, soon the disease spread to vital organs and the patient died..

（3） Lou Xiuzhen, female, now 78, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban, Andi Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army mobilized massive troops to enter the South Mountain for mopping-up, ferociously attacked Chinese soldiers, and burned all villages within the South Mountain, back then my home had three storied houses and one one-story house plus home furniture, farming tools, clothing, over 1500 catties of grain, one gold ring weighing 7.5 grams, 250 grams of silver jewelry, the above things were all burned by the Japanese Army.
（4） Wang Genrong, male, now 52, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban, Andi Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, because in Tangdian an officer of the Japanese Army was secretly killed by Chinese soldiers, the Japanese Army mobilized massive troops to enter the South Mountain for mopping-up, ferociously attacked Chinese soldiers, and burned all villages within the South Mountain, back then my elder brother (Wang Hongqing, now dead)’s home was totally burned by the Japanese Army, namely two and half storied houses (three houses dual structure and a half), all home furniture, farming tools, clothing, grain were also totally burned by the Japanese Army.
（5） Victim Wang Baoxian, female, back then aged two, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, after June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar till the middle of the month, after my home was burned by the Japanese Army, at that time all people in my family had nowhere to live, and could only spend the day in open space. Because my daughter was young and weak, with poor physical condition, she became ill, at a time when the country was plunged into turmoil and chaos of war, no doctor was available, and there was nowhere to buy drugs, soon the disease spread to vital organs and the patient died.
（6） Victim Wang Aixian, female, back then aged 5, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban, Andi Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, in early August 1943 of he lunar calendar, because the Japanese Army secretly distributed toxic bacteria in Jinhua County region, my daughter was too young to recognize the danger, after becoming infected by the bacteria, soon her head developed severe ulcer, at a time when the country was plunged into turmoil and chaos of war, no doctor was available, and there was nowhere to buy drugs, this illness deteriorated day by day, and became incurable, the patient soon died.
（7） Wang Genrong, male, now 52, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army mobilized massive troops to enter the South Mountain for mopping-up, ferociously attacked Chinese soldiers, and burned all villages within the South Mountain, back then my home had seven storied houses (three houses dual structure two lanes) two one-story house and home furniture, farming tools, clothing, grain, one gold ring weighing 10 grams, silver jewelry weighing over half catty were all burned by the Japanese Army. Furthermore, back then a friend running a dyeing shop in Jinhua consigned valuable articles gold jewelry weighing over 1300 grams, and over 2600 silver dollars at my home, the above articles were all burned by the Japanese Army.
（8） Wang Hongqing, male, back then aged 48, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban, Andi Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, in he middle of October 1942, the Japanese Army secretly distributed toxic bacteria in Jinhua County region, deliberately used chemical weapons to slaughter Chinese people, due to lack of knowledge, my elder uncle inadvertently became infected by the toxic bacteria, the feet developed severe ulcer, at a time when the country was plunged into turmoil and chaos of war, no doctor was available, and there was nowhere to buy drugs, this illness became incurable, as the illness deteriorated , and became incurable, the patient died.
（9） Ning Jinzhu, female, now 79, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army mobilized massive troops to enter the South Mountain for mopping-up, ferociously attacked Chinese soldiers, and burned all villages within the South Mountain. Back then my home had three storied houses, five one-story houses, and all home furniture, farming tools, grain, clothing, plus silver jewelry weighing 250 grams, were all burned by the Japanese Army.
Additionally: Back then my fourth elder uncle (Wang Jinshan)’s seven storied houses, and two one-story houses, were totally burned by the Japanese Army.
（10） Wang Zhizhong, male, back then aged 3, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, in early July 1942 of the lunar calendar, because my home and grains plus clothing were all burned by the Japanese Army, everyone in my family went into the mountains to evade the atrocities of the Japanese Army such as beating, conscripting laborers, and raping, however, since there’s nothing to eat, my son was forced to pick wild fruit in the mountains, in he night he slept in open space, the harsh living conditions soon damaged my son’s health to make him fall ill, he soon died.
（11） Wang Xiaozhong, male, back then one year old, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, in august 1942 of the lunar calendar, because back then my home houses, grain and clothing were all burned by the Japanese Army, my son was just six month old after birth, since her mother had no grain to eat, in the night she slept in open space, as a result the physical condition was poor, there was no milk, it was under such condition that my grandson starved to death.
（12） Zhou Yingnai (mother of Wang Zhirui), female, now 77, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army set fire to my home’s all three storied houses, and burned all home furniture, farming tools, grain, and clothing.
（13） Shen Chunfeng, female, now 62, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 on the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army burned my home’s five storied houses, two one-story house and all home furniture, farming tools, clothing, grain were burned by the Japanese Army.
（14） Wu Mingyou, male, now 71, residing at Xinnong Village, Sumeng Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army burned my home’s three storied houses, one one-story house and all home furniture, farming tools, clothing, grain were burned by the Japanese Army, back then my home was at Rentangkou, later we relocated to Xinnong Village to make way for dam construction.
（15） Lu Shengxiao, male, back then aged 4, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 24, 1942, because several days ago our houses were burned by the Japanese Army, all grain, clothing were burned by the Japanese Army, all family members fled to the mountain to evade the Japanese Army, as we had no grain and clothing, we were forced to pick wild fruits in the mountains to stave off hunger, in the night we slept in open space, as a result of such harsh conditions, my uncle’s health deteriorated, and soon he died of illness.
（16） Wang Xiaoman, female, back then aged 44, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on July 13, 1942, of the lunar calendar, because our houses were burned by the Japanese Army, all home farming tools, furniture, clothing, grain were also totally burned by the Japanese Army, sometime later, my husband was also captured by the Japanese Army to build airport, because of the above circumstances, it suddenly increased my grandmother’s mental burden, my grandmother consequently forgot eating and sleeping, fell into depression, lost spirit, and soon contracted serious illness and died.
（17） Wu Mingyou, male, now 71, residing at Xinnong Village, Sumeng Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army set fire to my elder brother’s two storied houses, and all home furniture, farming tools, clothing, grain were burned by the Japanese Army. Because my elder brother has no offspring, so this property should be inherited by me (this house is located in Rentangkou Village).
（18） Wu Mingshi, male, back then aged 30, residing at Rentangkou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, the Japanese Army went to the South Mountain to set fire to my elder brother’s house, and all home furniture, farming tools, grain, clothing were also totally burned by the Japanese Army, back then my elder brother had no house to live in and no grain to eat, he was very upset, soon excessive worry led to sickness, which deteriorated day by day, and he soon passed away.
（19） Ye Jirong, male, now 66, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army set fire to my home’s five storied houses, 8 one-story houses, and all home farming tools, furniture, grain, clothing were burned by the Japanese Army.
（20） Wu Caihua, female, now 61, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army set fire to my father’s 6 storied houses, and 5 one-story houses, all home farming tools, furniture, clothing, grain were burned by the Japanese Army. This house was located in Rentangkou Village, the houses burned by the Japanese Army were my father’s property, after my father died it should be inherited by my daughter.
（21） Wu Yongtai, male, back then aged 58, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban, Andi Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army entered the South Mountain for mopping-up campaign, and set fire to all houses in my village (Rentangkou). Back when the Japanese Army came to our village to set fire, my grandfather feared the Japanese Army, so he hurried opened the door, intending to flee to the mountains, but were discovered by the Japanese Army, the Japanese Army immediately shot him dead.
（22） Wu Genqing, male, back then aged 32, residing at Rentangkou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army dispatched massive troops to entered the South Mountain for mopping-up campaign, and set fire to all houses in our village (Rentangkou), at that time my uncle was very frightened by the Japanese Army, coupled with the fact that his houses were set fire and burned by the Japanese Army, grains were all burned, therefore my uncle felt very upset, excessive worry led to sickness, which defied treatment, he died in October that year.
（23） Grandmother of Ji Guixiang, female, back then aged 65, residing at Jiudianbian Village, Andi Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, two officers of the Japanese Army in Tangdian were secretly killed by Chinese solders, so the Japanese Army’s officers assembled massive troops to carry out mopping-up campaign in the South Mountain, when the Japanese Army passed Jiudianbian Village, my grandmother was just exiting the gate, and was seen by the Japanese Army, because the Japanese Army’s chief commander was killed, they started killing the moment they saw any Chinese.
（24） Ji Guixiang, female, now 65, residing at Butou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, when the Japanese Army entered the South Mountain for mopping-up campaign, they passed Jiudianbian Village, killed my grandmother, several dozen Japanese soldiers intruded into my grandmother’s home, robbed more than 250 silver dollars, gold rings and gold bracelet weighing about over 600 grams, silver jewelry weighing about 2.5 catties, clothing and grain were also all looted by the Japanese Army.
（25） Lu Shengji, male, now 68, residing at Duantou Village, Banya Town.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army burned my home’s five storied houses (three houses dual structure) and all home furniture, farming tools, grain, clothing.
（26） Wang Jinshan, male, back then aged 41, residing at Daqiankou Village, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, in November 1942 of the lunar calendar, because the Japanese Army secretly distributed toxic bacteria in Jinhua County region, my elder uncle was ignorant, and became infected by the toxic bacteria, the feet developed severe ulcer, at a time when the country was plunged into turmoil and chaos of war, no doctor was available, and there was nowhere to buy drugs, this illness deteriorated, and became incurable, soon the patient died.
（27） Wang Rongdi, male, now 72, residing at Daqiankou, Waiban.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army set fire to my home’s seven storied houses (hall balcony), two one-story houses, and all home furniture, farming tools, grain, clothing were burned by the Japanese Army.
（28） Fang Xuexiang, male, now 52, residing at Waiban Village, Andi Town, c/a You Mashan.
After Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, on June 6, 1942 of the lunar calendar, the Japanese Army set fire to my home’s four storied houses, three one-story houses, and all home furniture, farming tools, grain, clothing were burned by the Japanese Army.

During the Anti-Japanese War period (i.e. May 25, 1942), villagers of villages near Bailongqiao Town, Jinhua County, Zhejiang Province, Jinhua County was occupied by the Japanese Army with force, Jinhua fell into the enemy’s hands, people suffered miserably, after that countless people were killed by the Japanese Army, captured to work as laborers to dismantle railway before death, captured to work as laborers to build airport before death, or raped by the Japanese Army before death, the detailed names are listed below:
