Comrade Tong Zeng,

I safely arrived in Dingshan from Beijing on November 10. I experienced some twists and turns in finding you and submitting the historical materials to you. I first called Beijing Municipal Retired Cadres Department, which told me to call 3011133 to reach Beijing Municipal Committee on Aging. So I called and found out the detailed address of your center. Finally when I met you, I could feel your kindness and you properly explained the matter to me in a concise way. I’d like to express my deep gratitude to you.

Mr. Tong Zeng, after I returned, I have sent a letter (along with copies of the historical materials) to the Political Department of the Japanese embassy in China according to your requirements. I am telling you this and asking you to inform me of any progress. I will keep touch with you.

In addition, I shared my experience with the colleagues after I returned. They are now recalling their own family histories because they all had similar tragic experiences. For example, in Dingnan Village Massacre, the Japanese army publicly cut open the bellies of some Chinese people. It was indeed a tragic sight to see.

At last, wish you luck with everything and may all your wishes come true.

Best regards,

Yao Yunsheng
