Chen Wang who died in 1986 used to live in Wuchang District, Wuhan Province, China. She was originally from South Korea. When she was 20 years old, she was abducted by the Japanese and came to China as a sex slave in their military brothel. She then settled in Wuhan. Struggling with the deep stigma, her son Wang Xiaofu took some time to finally finish the compensation claim letter. CHEN didn’t give birth herself. Both Wang Xiaofu and his wife were pious to CHEN throughout her life and buried her with dignity at the end.
Enclosed are two compensation claim letters to Japan. Please include them in your file.
In addition, I have identified around 20 people with Korean nationality, most of whom were sex slaves taken by the Japanese from South Korea. I have notified their children or themselves about our action, and I will later mail you their compensation claim letters and copies of their residence certificates in China. Please reply to me when you receive my mail.

My mother was from Jeollanam-do, South Korea. I am not sure about her Korean name, Ms. Sung or something. Her Chinese name is Chen Wang. She was born on October 1, 1919. She became my step mother in 1948 (my mother died of illness) when I was only four years old. We lived in Luosanmiao Viliage,Laiqingshan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province back then. In 1949, we moved to Xujiapengxicaiyuan114(Wuchang District), Wuhan City , where we still live today. My mother Chen Wang died in Chinese New Year of 1984. My wife and I took care of her funeral, and buried her ash in Sulinwang Village, Dazhiling County, next to my father’s. My mother told me that she was taken by force to China from Korea by Japanese soldiers. She suffered a lot in the army. She wasn’t treated as a human being. My mother worked at Yangtze River Ribbon Factory in Wuhan City in 1958 and retired in 1975. Throughout her illness until deathbed, she never stopped longing for going back to her hometown in Korea.
I was too young back then, so I don’t have a clear memory of my mother’s tormented past.
