Comrade Tong,

Hello!

From an article ‘Yomiuri Shimbun of Japan Publishes Articles T about China’s Civil Claim for Reparations against Japan’ on the Press Digest of May 19th, 1992, we knew that you are working hard on the issue of Chinese civil victims’ claim for reparations against Japan. You have stated the wishes that millions of victims have buried deep in their minds. My entire family and I would like to express our sincere gratitude and support to you. In 1943, my father was innocently arrested to the Japanese gendarme headquarter in Dalian, poured with pepper water, beat and tortured to death. I heard from my mother that he was captured when the Spring Festival was coming, and after two or three days, she was notified to see his body. The coat he wore when he left was missing. There were bruises all over his body. Apparently he was beat cruelly. At that time, I was only three and had three elder sisters and one elder brother, and even the oldest sister was only 14. The sufferings my mother and the five kids have experienced are hard to describe by thousands of words.

On the Reference News of June 20th, there was an article entitled ‘Some Politicians Object to the Emperor of Japan Visiting China’ which stated that some members of the Japanese ruling party – Liberal Democrats were angry with China’s claim for reparations for the losses caused by Japan’s aggression. As we compare our feelings to others’; when Japanese students were in car accidents when traveling in China, the Chinese Government had to give them certain compensations. But why do they feel indignant when we ask for indemnities since our Chinese people were killed by them? This is very unfair. The Chinese people were murdered by them, but had nowhere to appeal and no one to uphold justice for them. They were dead in vain.

Now I am working and living in Hangzhou, my two elder sisters and one elder brother are in Beijing and third sister is in Jilin. They are far from each other. My mother passed away in 1976, with her bone ashes kept in the home of Beijing, while my father was buried in Dalian. They have not been buried together yet. I hope we could attain the reasonable reparations through our efforts so that my parents and millions of Chinese victims could rest in peace.

If you need our help, please write to us without hesitation.
