Details of Japanese invaders’ atrocities in our village

In 1941, the Japanese army’s war of aggression against China pervaded to my hometown —Jincheng City, Shanxi Province. They built a stronghold 10 kilometers north of the county – Bo Village Stronghold “Zhijin Highway”. In this year, the Japanese army captured men villagers as forced labor, including my uncle Feng Maigen, my uncle-in-law Liu Qiukui, villagers such as Feng Duidui, Xin Kehua, Zhao Baobao and others in our village. After they were captured to the stronghold, they were forced to repair roads and build fortifications for the Japanese army under the Japanese’s bayonets. They worked like cattle and horses, didn’t have enough to eat and were even brutally beaten by the Japanese. In the winter of the same year, the Japanese army was to enter and occupy Changzhi City, and planned to take the villagers with them to continue enslaving them. Our kin were unwilling to leave, and trying to escape several times, but didn’t succeed. During (At) the night when the Japanese army evacuated from Bo Village Stronghold, the majority of the farmers who were in slavery were shot dead, altogether over 100 persons, according to the survivors’ recall afterwards.

Over 50 years have passed by. Like people across the nation, we as the families of the victims are indignant with the losses and traumas suffered by the Chinese people during the war. China and Japan have established diplomatic relations for 10 years now; the current Japanese Government should (shall) deliver clear and reasonable responses to the Chinese victims according to the International Law.

We would like to donate all the civil reparations to support Beijing’s bid for hosting the 2000 Olympic Games.
