Dear Mr Tong,
Our association, founded in 1968, has been making continuous effort at seeking reparation from the Japanese Government for the war crimes during the occupation of Hong Kong in the Second World War. Recently, the Hong Kong War Reparation Lawsuit Support Group was formed under our association. The members of this support group consist of lawyers, scholars, teachers, social workers ,and other professionals in Hong Kong. With the support of this group and the Hong Kong Military Notes Reparation Association in Japan (formed by members of the Diet, lawyers, professors, high school teachers, journalists ,etc in Japan), we will launch against the Japanese Government for the war reparation in Hong Kong in fall this year.

In order to make our claim more comprehensive, we will include in the claim a compilation of the progress of war reparation in other Asian countries. Specifically, we are collecting information on the following items for the individual countries:

1.a history of the efforts at seeking war reparation
2.the progress of these efforts
3.the amount of reparation so far, if any
4.the sufferings of the war victims.

We would be obliged if your association could furnish us with above information, if possible, by the first of August. If possible, please provide the information in English. In the future, if association can be of help in any way for the purpose of war reparation and memorial, wo would be more than happy to provide our assistance. We believe that cooperation among Asian countries will facilitate the achievement of our common goals.
